Copyright and DMCA Policy

Last updated: September 10, 2026

1. Respect for intellectual property

NovaClips respects the intellectual property rights of others. NovaClips stores and processes user-uploaded and user-imported video, audio, and related files. Users may only process content they own or are authorized to use. Uploading, importing, or processing infringing content violates our Terms of Service.

2. Designated DMCA agent

NovaClips has designated an agent to receive notifications of claimed copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). Send notices by email (preferred) or physical mail to:

Operator: NovaClips.

Contact: [email protected]

DMCA agent: NovaClips

Email (preferred): [email protected]

If we register our agent with the U.S. Copyright Office, we will link to the public directory entry on this page.

3. Takedown notices

If you believe content stored or processed through NovaClips infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent that includes all of the following:

  • A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list
  • Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it (for example, the NovaClips project name, account email, source URL submitted for import, or clip export details)
  • Your mailing address, telephone number, and email address
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner

We may forward your notice to the user who submitted the material. Knowingly submitting a false takedown notice may result in liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

4. Our response

When we receive a valid takedown notice, we may:

  • Remove or disable access to the identified material
  • Notify the user who submitted the material
  • Record the notice and our actions in accordance with applicable law

Our typical timelines are:

  • Receipt: We aim to acknowledge complete notices within two (2) business days.
  • Action: We aim to remove or disable access to clearly identified infringing material within five (5) business days of receiving a complete, valid notice.
  • Incomplete notices: We may request additional information before acting. Incomplete notices may delay action until we receive sufficient detail to locate the material.

We evaluate notices promptly and in good faith. Whether NovaClips qualifies for safe-harbor protection under 17 U.S.C. § 512 is a legal determination; this policy describes our notice-and-takedown process regardless.

5. Counter-notification

If you believe your content was removed or disabled in error or because of misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to [email protected] that includes:

  • Your physical or electronic signature
  • Identification of the material that was removed and its prior location
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled because of mistake or misidentification
  • Your name, address, telephone number, and email address
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original notice or their agent

If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material after at least ten (10) business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the user from engaging in infringing activity.

6. Repeat infringers

We maintain a policy for terminating accounts of repeat infringers, consistent with 17 U.S.C. § 512(i). In appropriate circumstances, we will suspend or permanently terminate access for users who repeatedly infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights.

Repeat infringer rule: A user who receives two (2) or more valid copyright takedown notices within any rolling twelve (12) month period is generally treated as a repeat infringer and may have their account terminated. We may terminate sooner for egregious infringement, fraudulent notices, or failure to respond to enforcement actions. We may decline to terminate when a timely counter-notification was filed, a notice was withdrawn, or we determine in good faith that the use was authorized.

7. URL imports and third-party platforms

NovaClips may import media from URLs you provide (for example, public Google Drive links or direct video-file URLs). You are responsible for ensuring you have rights to import and edit that content. We do not claim ownership of third-party platform content and may remove imported or processed material in response to valid rights-holder requests or platform restrictions.

8. Stock media attribution

B-roll suggestions sourced from Pexels include required attribution metadata. Users are responsible for displaying attribution when publishing clips that include stock media, in accordance with the Pexels license.

9. Site media and open-source assets

NovaClips branding (logo and icon) is original to NovaClips. UI icons are from Lucide (ISC License). Web fonts (Instrument Sans, Manrope, Newsreader) are loaded through Next.js font optimization from Google Fonts and served from our application host.

10. Reporting other abuse

To report content that violates our policies but is not a copyright claim, email [email protected] with the project or clip details and a description of the issue.
